Our Uganda Friday: Auctioning eligible bachelors and bachelorettes and giving free hugs!

by Darlyne Komukama

First I'll tell you about an event coming up this weekend, then I'll tell you about an event that happened last weekend. Cool? Ok.

On Saturday, 2nd July 2011, the Mara Foundation is holding a date with a Bachelor/Bachelorette Auction Dinner at the Open House on Buganda Road.

The Mara Foundation is a non-profit foundation whose aim is to complement the growth and success of the Sub-Saharan African region by finding sustainable and replicable solutions to some of its biggest challenges. The Bachelor/Bachelorette date auction fundraiser is to raise money to buy water tanks for the visually impaired students of Sir Apollo Kaggwa SSS in Mukono who currently have to walk 2km to fetch water from the nearest stream. Some of the money will also be used to buy them new braille machines for their classes.

So call +256755333106 or 0312261700/800 for your ticket now and maybe you'll be the highest bidder for a date with me. (Yes, I am one of the Bachelorettes going to be auctioned)

Now for last weekend's event.

The organisation The Pay It Forward Foundation Uganda held the PIFF Hugathone, an event where they went to a busy mall (Garden City Mall) and gave out free hugs for 5 hours. Below are a few pictures, for more visit their facebook page here.
