Our Uganda Friday: 5 November 2010

This week was the launch of a new website, The Global African, developed by Babu Emile and Awava teammate Darlyne Komukama. The site features weekly podcasts and articles designed to keep Africans in the Diaspora connected to happenings on the continent. Separated into four categories: art, internet memes, socio-enviro-political issues, and the week's headlines, The Global African... well, it should speak for itself:

Together we create a new force of opinion leaders, citizen journalists, bloggers and visionaries who will to shape the conversation on Africa and together we discover and harness new avenues of social and political advocacy through the internet.

This is where we tell the uncensored true story of Africa and Africans, ignoring the clichés, calling out mediocrity and applauding the success stories, all in fair measure.

Essentially, it's a great way to keep up to date with happenings in Africa for those who aren't interested in the way most media outlets spin the issues. Have a look, leave a comment to let The Global African know what you think, and check out Museveni's new rap video while you're at it.
