Our Uganda Friday: Nneka and Robots

by Darlyne Komukama

Nneka  is a Nigerian born German soul singer. She sings in both Igbo and English and her music deals with capitalism, poverty and war among other themes. Goethe-Zentrum is treating us to a concert where she headlines but that also features amazing Ugandan female musicians, Keko, Tshilla, Irene Ntale and Ife Piankhi. The concert will cost only UGX 5,000 and be hosted by Goethe-Zentrum at their gardens at Plot 6, Mackinnon Road, Nakasero.

Fundi Bots is a Ugandan technology outreach program for students in high school and university that uses robotics to introduce young children to the endless possibilities of technology in both their day-to-day lives and potential careers. They were recently selected as the recipients of a significant grant from the Google RISE programme that rewards organisations running innovative STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) and CS (Computer Science) enrichment programmes. We congratulate you guys, you deserve this win.
